Lab:Mechanism Design Laboratory (Room 320-1, Integrated Technology Complex)

Bio

Dr. Chan earned his Bachelor of Science in Power Mechanical Engineering from National Tsing Hua University in June 2017 and completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at Tennessee Technological University in May 2021. He began his academic career as an assistant professor at National Taipei University of Technology later that year. His research focuses on mechanism design, including the synthesis of planar overconstrained mechanisms using optimization techniques, stationary cam synthesis for rigid-body guidance, and the development of lightweight robotic arms for fast motion applications. Dr. Chan also collaborates on industrial projects, such as foldable phone hinges and light rail pantograph systems.

Research Interest

• Mechanism analysis and synthesis

• Curvature Theory on Gear Tooth Profile Generation

• Theoretical Kinematics of Spatial mechanisms and robots
